The Senior Engineer of Supplier Quality, reporting to the Quality Manager, works in collaboration with the quality, operations, supply chain, and engineering organizations to coordinate, organize and report on quality assurance, continuous improvement, and cost reduction processes for procured materials, parts, and sub-assemblies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Supplier Quality Audits for the Sourcing, Quality, and/or Engineering departments to validate existing or new suppliers. Write financial reports on these audits and rank with the Supplier Scorecard.
  • Lead Supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing and technology capabilities, health & safety and /or any other potential risk to Excelitas or its customers.
  • Define and coordinate, in collaboration with engineering and operations, First Article Approval testing for new or modified incoming materials or part designs.
  • Facilitate RCCA of any Supplier Quality issues to minimize/eliminate any production downtime.
  • Facilitate the escalation of unresolved Supplier Quality Issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities using appropriate Lean tools.
  • Work with Quality Manager to define, monitor and report on quality assurance testing/inspection for incoming materials.
  • Manage Approved Vendor List.
  • Work closely with Buyers to drive key supplier cost reductions.
  • Work directly with Buyers to find alternate suppliers that will provide Quality parts at a competitive price.
  • Report on KPI’s in order to adhere to process parameters and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system.
Requirements●Exigences●Anforderung
  • BS or equivalent in Engineering, Applied Physics, or related technical discipline, with 5+ years industry experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with ROHS, WEEE, and REACH Directives
  • Experience with Quality Assurance methods and disciplines for industrial, commercial, medical or military markets
  • Experience with opto-electronic devices is desirable
  • Travel to domestic suppliers as needed
  • Supplier evaluation and qualification
  • Ability to generate clear and concise written reports and summaries
  • Strong attention to details and organization skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and to meet established timeframes
  • Knowledge of Quality and Business Systems
  • Understanding and Interpretation of Engineering drawings
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Assertive, optimistic, resilient, and welcomes change
  • Proactively contributes to the team efforts and has a collaborative approach to working with others
  • Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
