Position Summary: Responsible for shipping and/or receiving quality product

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors equipment use and location
  • Breaks down orders as appropriate
  • Matches shipping and/or receiving orders
  • Unloads received product from truck and/or railcar using forklift or crane
  • Arranges for necessary repairs
  • Drives truck and drops trailers on company property
  • May print tags and/or enter information for Bill of Ladings
  • May assist on equipment and pulling stock
  • May be responsible for arranging trucks inbound for mill material
  • Manages time and prioritizes tasks as assigned
  • Observes all company safety rules
  • Performs other duties as assigned and assists others as needed

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with shipping and receiving in a manufacturing production facility preferred
  • Expected to maintain all company training

Job Competencies:

  • Clear, thoughtful decision making skills
  • Strong math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Able to read and understand orders to ensure delivery of correct product
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills using knowledge of the structure, content, and spelling of the English language
  • Basic computer knowledge of Stelplan and Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Able to see objects at near and far range
  • Knowledge of the shipping and receiving process
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes involved in moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road
  • Able to maintain focus when performing tedious tasks
  • Quick response time to signals (i.e., sound, light, pictures, etc.)
  • Use of both large and small muscle groups
  • Manual dexterity to quickly move hands and arms

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Over 2/3 of work time spent using forklift or crane, using arms/hands to reach and manipulate objects, and using feet to press gas pedal and brake
  • 1/3 of work time spent working on computer using keyboard, bending, reaching, walking, and moving at a quick pace
  • Environment includes exposure to loud, continuous noise
