Position Title: Accounting Clerk

                                        

Location: Houston, TX

 

Gulf Interstate Engineering serves the worldwide pipeline industry providing project management, engineering and design, GIS, materials management and construction management services for hydrocarbon transportation systems - from the wellhead to the export terminal and the burner tip.

 

Position Description

The Accounting Clerk will report to the Controller and will be responsible for various accounting functions such as accounts payable, and other month end close activities.

All candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and effective oral and written communication skills in presenting and explaining financial information to management in financial and non-financial management positions.

 

Essential Functions

  • Process accounts payable invoices, check requests, and expense reports.
  • Ensure proper approval and accuracy.
  • Input data into accounting system with accuracy.
  • Process disbursements for vendors and employees.
  • Maintain accounting files for vendors.
  • Researching and resolving accounts payable issues with vendors.
  • Reconciliation of subledger activity to the general ledger.
  • Support all internal and external audit processes.
  • Assist with month-end close and reconciliations of various accounts.
  • Provide analytical, administrative, clerical, and project support to management.
  • Data entry and filing as needed.
  • Other job related activities.

  • Knowledge of Visio or alternative flow chart tool and experience with writing process narratives and procedures is a plus.

     

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience.
